Coastal ports upgrade to "smart and green", and the mooring column system develops towards intelligence
Sep 05,2025
Policy driven: Upgrading coastal ports to "smart and green" and developing mooring systems towards intelligence, such as integrating stress monitoring sensors and remote control modules to provide real-time feedback on ship mooring status and assist port scheduling decisions; Some ports are piloting "modular mooring columns" to adapt to rapid switching of multiple ship types and improve turnover efficiency.
Material innovation: In response to the corrosive environment of the ocean, high-performance anti-corrosion coatings (such as zinc rich primer+epoxy topcoat) and weather resistant alloys (such as stainless steel composite materials) are used for the mooring columns to extend their service life; In some scenarios, composite materials (such as fiberglass) mooring columns are gradually being piloted in small and medium-sized docks due to their advantages of lightweight and corrosion resistance.
